Based on the novel The Mapmaker’s Opera by Béa Gonzalez. Executive Producers: Perry Street Theatricals, New York; Co-Producer: Music Theatre Melbourne. The Mapmaker’s Opera was first performed Off-Broadway as a grand jury selection of the 2014 New York Musical Festival. It was temporarily re-titled The Stranger from Seville and accepted, as one of six new musicals, for the 2018 2nd. Florida Festival of New Musicals prior to a successful, and critically well-received, industry reading in New York City. Directed by Martin Platt.

Set in the Yucatán, on the eve of the Mexican revolution, the story centers around of a pair of star- crossed lovers – Diego Clemente, a young artist and illustrator from Seville, Spain, and Sofia, daughter of Roberto and Gabriela Duarte. From the young couple’s first encounter, their budding romance is thwarted at every turn; their quest to leave the town of Mérida in search of a new life culminating in a deadly uprising by workers on a local henequen plantation who, unable to endure any more suffering, rise up in rebellion.
